Cranberry Island Lighthouse
Cranberry Island Lighthouse is located in Guysborough County, Nova Scotia. This lighthouse is on Cranberry Island, a low-lying collection of ledges roughly 5 kilometers east of Canso. It marks the entrance to both Canso Harbour and the Strait of Canso.
Follow Union Street east toward the Eastern Memorial Hospital. At this point, after passing the hospital, the road goes from paved to gravel. Keep going and eventually the road itself becomes more of a crossing over a few rocky beaches. I would suggest tackling this in a vehicle with some amount of clearance. You will see the lighthouse off in the distance along your left. My friend and I kept going until we couldn’t see the lighthouse any longer and stopped at that point for some pictures.
With the lighthouse being on an island, and some distance away, there really only was the single vantage point from which to take pictures. I did very minimal processing – a little raising of the exposure and cropping in where I could.
