Queensport Lighthouse is located in Guysborough County, Nova Scotia. Rook Island, where the lighthouse is situated, is not too far off the coast of the community of Queensport, which itself roughly halfway between the towns of Canso and Guysborough. It is about a 20 minute drive along Route 16 from either town to reach Queensport.

When you reach Queensport, there is a small and somewhat rocky beach that you can pull off the road and park. The beach has an interpretive sign that explains the history of the lighthouse and the view is pretty good on a clear day.

I visited the beach mid-afternoon of October 8, 2022. The weather was touch-and-go that afternoon, and an hour later turned to rain as I was approaching the town of Mulgrave.  That said, even with the cloud cover I feel like I was able to get a couple of decent shots from the shore.

Being on an island limits the amount of shots you can get since you really only have the single vantage point.

This stop was one on a number of stops during an all-day trip and it was nice to be able to just pull off the road, get out of the car and enjoy the view. The interpretive sign is a great addition and helps give a bit of history and context to the moment.

For these four pictures, I applied two different colouring approaches during processing. One leans very close to the raw file with a little enhancements to the highlights and exposure and the other with a more film look.
